5 years without my pop today. But trying to take a page from my hero @exkilgore book and focus on the light amid the darkness. My dad was a very funny man. Hilarious, even. He took great advantage of the gullible naïveté of youth and would weave tall tales that were so charismatic they seemed inarguably true. Such is the case with this photo... As NOT seen in “Get Back”, my dad had fabricated several promotional photos of himself as a Beatle made at Kinko’s. These were FRAMED and displayed around our home alongside family photos. I had been coached into believing he was IN THE BAND. When I was laughed at by classmates who had been savvy enough to point out that he obviously wasn’t in any of the movies or shown on any album covers, he finally offered up his bulletproof alibi. Crouching down, he placed his hand on my shoulder, looked me dead in the eye and would tell me “silly— that’s because someone had to take the photo! I was the one holding the camera”. Touché. I love you very much dad thank you for this awesome life, everything I do is for you.
