today, i celebrate five years cancer free. here are five things i’ve learned in the last five years.
1. what is meant for you will never miss you. nothing can separate you from what you’re meant for—no delay, no person, no thought, no illness. it will circle back, again and again, until the time is finally right
2. listen to your body. and this isn’t me saying to get on a strict diet or regimen (unless you want to) but *listen* to your body. feed yourself & eat more if you’re hungry. if you’re full, you can eat the rest tomorrow. sleep in if you truly need it. if someone’s presence activates your nervous system in a negative way, maybe you’re not meant to be around them. & if something doesn’t feel *right* it doesn’t hurt to go for a check up
3. you can have more than one dream, & you’re allowed to change your mind. you are not the same person you were 5 years ago, so it’s okay if what you want looks different. & it’s okay if you want more than what you initially thought. you were always meant to change. & just because life doesn’t look exactly how you once imagine it, doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong path
4. we were put on this earth with others because we need each other. even in your independence, you still need your people. even if it’s just for a coffee. or a silly conversation. or to watch a movie with. you were never meant to go through life alone. & trust me, people want to be there for you
5. you are deserving of love & happiness regardless of your accomplishments or where you are in life. thank you to my family & friends for loving me throughout these last five years, especially when i needed it the most. i love you🤍
