"We only had the budget for a single roll of film, so I planned the whole shoot meticulously: I drew a complete storyboard and sub divided the song into small bits, so we would only have to film every shot once or twice, depending on the angles of the coverage. My friends Leo and Louisa emptied their garage, I rented some light and we built the set. Whenever I’m in the frame (I also sing and play guitar in the band) I had my friends Leo and Harry operate the camera. Leo helped us on the previous 16mm video and knew what he was in for, but seeing the absolute joy, excitement and horror in Harry’s face was a complete treat. On a small budget project like this, every second of every shot counts, and you know what? Everybody actually brings their A-game as soon as they know it counts. We had so much fun. Just hearing this mechanical machine doing its work next to your ear is tremendous. Shooting on film is one of the biggest pleasures of my life. If you’re a videographer, filmmaker, storyteller or just a film enthusiast. Treat yourself to the experience. It changed how I work on other formats completely. Also, nothing looks quite like it."
