In 2014, on my first visit to @omnivorebooks, I stood in front of the shelves of cookbooks written by people from across an industry I was frankly obsessed with & desperately wanted to be a part of, and said to my mom - “one day, I’ll have my cookbook on these shelves”. Inshallah, a decade later, in the fall of 2024, that one, big dream of my younger, most hopeful self will become a reality in the most special way. 🥺🙌🏽💕 Honored to be telling the stories of @diasporaco’s incredible farm partners, of the family dishes that are heirlooms and generational gifts, and pledging in so much earnestness to do right by the power and privilege of being a translator of these cuisines and cultures. I feel so lucky to be writing this book with @fromheadtotable - my partner in making sure these recipes are honoured and highly cookable for our global community, and to be spending the next few months on the road with her visiting the most special farms!!! Extra big shoutout to @micheledeis who with the gentlest voice and kindest words coaxed this proposal out of us, and made space for this book to be everything it needs to be.
