In 2019, during a talkback for a play I did called BLKS, an audience member asked the cast what we wanted our next projects to be. Without thinking, I said, “something sci-fi.” I never thought about it before, but I heard myself explain why: because it’s rare to see people who look like me—who come from my background—occupying that space. And I wanted to. Six months later, I booked “For All Mankind.” A year and a half after that, I’m in a spacesuit holding a moon rock. (Which was a REAL moon rock, by the way!!)
