Hello! It is I! The chicken lover presenting her first review! Let's begin :)
(Note: The only condiments I ever use in reviews is ketchup, condiments included in the meal are not reviewed.)
Today's selection is from my local Applebee's. It is their Chicken Tender Plate!
Breading: The breading was a type I've encountered a couple of times before (I'd tell you about the technique, but I have not gotten to research it yet). This particular type of breading has a rounded looking appearance and is generally uneven and does not flake. This type is not one I prefer because of its unevenness of thickness which can make some parts soft but other parts hard as a rock. The breading on this chicken however was relatively even and enjoyable! I did not feel like I was chewing gravel for a mouth workout but rather was able to focus on the actual chicken.
Taste: The seasoning matched that of the fries the chicken was paired with, which is common. If you ever want to know what type of seasoning you will have on your chicken, you can taste the fries first and that will usually give you a good idea.
The seasoning was not overwhelming and was pleasurable for most of the meal. However once I got down to the last two chicken strips the salt started to become too much and my tongue wrinkled. This over salting is often paired with the type of breading they used, so I was not suprised.
Meat: The chicken was nice and juicy. It was not overcome by breading but remained the main focus of the food.
Overall: For this particular type of fried chicken I would say it is 5/5 in its category. Personally, since this is not my preferred chicken type, I would give it a 4/5 because despite it not being my usual choice, it pleasantly suprised me with it's even breading.
