This quilt I made last year attempting to visualize the number of Americans killed by police officers in 2019 is on display at MoCP Chicago through February 20 in the exhibition American Epidemic: Guns in The United States, along with work by Nancy Floyd, Stephen Foster, Andres Gonzalez, Félix González-Torres, Deborah Luster, Zora J Murff, Renée Stout, and Hank Willis Thomas and Kambui Olujimi, and curated by Karen Irvine. “The show not only explores the complex array of issues that arise with the increased presence of guns in American society, but advocates for an intersectional understanding of how gender, race, capitalism, and militarism affect the larger conversation around gun control in this country.” @mocpchi
