It happens to all of us. The wifi isn’t working, we lose electricity, or tech just isn’t working as planned. It’s incredibly frustrating. And, it’s a great learning opportunity. My power went out seven minutes before I was supposed to lead a Roundtable for District Bliss Members. And, while there is never a good time for something to not work properly, when you’re just about to host something is maybe one of the worst. Past Sara would have freaked out. I would have scrambled, run to our garage to try to find our portable generator (yes, I own one of those), and shown up stressed/sweaty - if I showed up at all - for our event. If Past Sara couldn’t find that little generator, she would have begrudgingly cancelled the Roundtable and then griped about it. Today Sara thought about doing all of those things. But, instead, Today Sara hopped on her hotspot to cover the wifi issue and asked the DB team if someone was available to co-host the event. That way, the recording was uninterrupted if my computer’s battery died - and that team member could be mentally prepared to take over hosting. Life throws a lot of curve balls. It’s how we handle them that defines us. So, next time things go sideways or you feel like you’re swinging and missing, here are some things to keep in mind... 📌 Slow down and think. What’s the best way to recover from this situation? 📌 Ask yourself: what is the best outcome? And, then begin to calculate the most efficient move to get yourself there. 📌 Don’t react; act with intention. Often, when we’re stressed, we are in a reactive state. Fight the urge to act without thinking it through. Bonus tip: Remember that we’re all human. We understand when something goes wrong. Give yourself grace when appropriate. #DistrictBliss
