Happy 38th Birthday to me. 🥳 Just about a year ago, I bought a jump rope. I’ve never been good at jumping rope (or anything involving rhythm and coordination) but that was the point. I wanted to get better at being bad at stuff. Better at failing, at stumbling, at picking myself back up and getting on with it anyway. At first there was a lot of swearing. A lot of embarrassment. A lot of “good” days and “bad” days. But somewhere along the way, that rope and I became friends. And today, I celebrated my birthday with 38 straight minutes of tripping, stumbling, picking myself up and getting on with it. It wasn’t perfect, but it felt damn good.
