New York City is the safest big city in America because we’ve put in the work. I directed every city agency to focus on public safety, and together we've seen good progress this year. Shootings and homicides are down. Firearms and ghost gun seizures are up. We won't stop here though. We have more officers on our subways, and riders are coming back in record numbers. Our streets are safer: pedestrian and cyclist fatalities are down, and speeding has dropped 25% with 24/7 speed cameras. We're confiscating more illegal ATVs and fake license plates every day.
