COST OF BECOMING AN ATTORNEY 💵 As a 3L who just registered for the July bar exam, I'm so close to the finish line! I've talked a lot in the past about some of the steps you need to take in order to become an attorney that people often aren't aware of until they actually reach law school, like taking the MPRE! There's also a lot of costs associated with these steps that student forget to factor in as "law school" expenses. Here's some of them for the California Bar: •Taking the MPRE: $130 (if you're not sure what this exam is, see my ig posts from Oct 2021 & March 2021 for more info) •Registering for an online account with the state bar: $119 •Bar exam itself: $830 •Moral Character and Fitness Application (like a big background check) $551 + $30ish for fingerprinting •Bar prep course: varies, I paid around 1500 for Themis early bird pricing. •Expenses such as rent and food while you're studying for the bar exam for ten weeks: varies •Hotel room and travel to/from the bar exam venue location: varies My law school offers bar loans for students who need assistance during bar prep and students also seek loans elsewhere.
