I wanted to share this moment with you. This was filmed last year during my first ever solo trip, and first time to California. Directly following my photography workshop in Joshua Tree, I hit the big city of LA for a few days to explore and adventure. Maybe find a little creative inspiration to take back to my cozy and safe little town of Saskatchewan. I ended up staying right across the street from this little outlook point you see me at in the video. This was maybe 30 minutes after the Uber drive from Joshua Tree to my temporary home in LA and the first time ever seeing the city like this. I had thrown my bags in my room and walked across the street to take in the view. I wanted to film it because much like how I want to capture all of YOUR moments and big feels, I want to capture mine, too. (And let me tell you — in my opinion - you’ll find one of the best views of LA from Pacific Pallisades. 🥰) Anyway, I always say that this trip to California changed me. I’ve been trying to think back to which moment or experience specifically it was that really made an impact on me for some time and I keep landing on this one. This moment right here. I’m so happy to have it on film. So, this is it. This is the moment where everything in my mind, soul and body had changed, shifted. When you get out of your small town, your perimeters, comforts and realities and are introduced to this great big world that exists outside of it — it’s impossible to look back and not feel some sort of magical way. To not think just how much more there still is to explore, learn and experience. I guess this is my push to you. If you’re feeling stuck, depleted, flat, uninspired, lost or like you’re just missing a bit of adventure or spark in your life... it’s time to go find it. Travel. And if it’s money holding you back, make it a priority and save, my friend. It’ll be the best thing you do for yourself. Talk to new people. Put yourselves in new rooms. Get a little uncomfortable so you can surprise yourself. Explore new places. Do something that scares the shit out of you so you’re reminded how temporary fear really is and how much bravery and self-belief ultimately persevere.
