It's getting closer to the annual bison rut (end of July through August). Visitors will begin to see mature bulls leave their solitary lifestyles and enter the large herds of cows, calves and younger bulls. The rut is always an exciting time of year and things can get a bit spicy. This is the time when bison (both males and females) are the most aggressive. Bellows fill the air, the group buzzes with activity, and bulls will clash in epic fights for dominance. During this time bulls can lose up to 200 pounds as tending females and fighting can take up much of their time.
