Just like Santa's sleigh is pulled by a team of powerful, flying female reindeer, A&E today was manned by a team of badass women!!! Has been an unusually BUSY shift for xmas day but we saw and sorted all our kiddos with a smile on our face and a spring in our step!! . Nobody wants to work xmas but thousands in our NHS do. Cleaners, HCAs, Porters, Radiographers, security staff as well as Doctors like me!! Thank you to every single staff member that gives up time at home with loved ones to care for the sick, the vulnerable, and the elderly . The NHS is broken. Its toll is seen in the 12h waits, in the cries of patients lying in hallways and heard in the sighs and tears of overworked staff. Despite this thousands of nurses, paramedics, midwives and HCPS turn up to do a wonderful job. It isn't easy and it's no wonder that so many of us are striking about the unbearable working conditions . Thank you to every single one of you that worked today, you are the unsung heroes of our healthcare system.
