Seeing alcohol in skincare products might be confusing 🤨
Should you avoid it entirely or is it okay to use products with it? Let's get to the bottom of this controversy.
✅ Checkpoint #1: In reality, alcohol in skincare products comes in either of the two: volatile and fatty alcohol. These two are opposites: volatile alcohol deprives the skin of moisture, while fatty alcohol helps moisturize the skin and prevent skincare ingredients from separating. Don't fall for false advertisement! Make sure you know what type of alcohols are helping or depriving your skin.
✅ Checkpoint #2: Keep in mind the amount of alcohol in skincare products. Skincare labeling and food labeling logic are pretty similar - ingredients with the biggest concentration are usually at the top of the ingredient list. So if you see alcohol at the top of the list, it's likely that the concentration is high and there is a risk of poor formulation.
So, bringing it back to SKIN1004 and our Hyalu-Cica Water-fit Sun Serum. We want to address the buzz about alcohol in our formulation. The Hyalu-Cica Sun Serum contains fatty alcohol that doesn't harm the skin. In fact, we use it in order to achieve extra moisture and better product texture. Have additional questions about our products? Leave it down in the comments, and we will make our best efforts to be as transparent as possible.
