I created @theslaycoach alter ego as someone who was stronger than I currently felt I was when I started my business in 2017. She was brave, she cared ferociously about the success of others, but she did not give a crap what you or anyone else thought about her. She was the person I needed to become to make my dreams happen. She was everything I wanted to be, but didn’t feel like I was yet to blow my business up... so I built my alter ego, and I became her. Here’s how to build an alter ego that helps you get closer to your goals. ⚡️Write a character like you’re putting That Nevsky level Version of yourself into a book or movie. What does she wear? How does she speak to others? How does she walk into a room? What is her morning routine? What does she do daily that’s non negotiable? ⚡️Don’t try to change everything about yourself or become her overnight. I became her overtime, in batches. (At events, on stage, and Mon- Thur working hours I was her). I acted like the person I wanted be that had the life I wanted, versus thinking about her. I did it in little bits over time. ⚡️ I kept the things about my old identity that I loved. I have a huge heart, I love to help people, I love to talk to strangers, I love vintage, I love to explore, I love history, and I love being a wife and mom. ⚡️overthinking is a never ending backwards loop, you can only get closer to where you want to be by taking the next right step. So ask yourself, if I was the person that had what I wanted in life, how would I act today/tomorrow/in this moment? ⚡️Leveling up your identity and habits brings lots of fears, and loss. You might lose friends, you might lose hobbies or interests that don’t align with you anymore, look fondly on your time, but make sure your actions today align with the values of the person you want to become. ⚡️find a mentor or tribe of people that share your values and align with where you want to go and who you want to become, vs where you are right now, you’ll get there faster. ⚡️ Give her a name.
