A few weeks back we hiked up Mt. Shirouma in the Northern Japanese Alps. Probably more a “trek” than a “hike” with 5,000+ feet elevation gain over a relatively short distance. The climb up was a test on the lungs, and the walk down turned my legs to jelly. The views were gorgeous and otherworldly, and I’m truly grateful for the experience.
