Amie Siegel's 'Fetish' (2016) will be shown at Eye Filmmuseum on Tuesday 8 November, as part of a programme exploring how visual artists approach the concept of collections. The programme is curated and introduced by Marian Cousijn, and is part of the exhibition 'Mountains and Molehills' by Fiona Tan. 'Fetish' delves into the stratified relationships between culture, value, and material, focusing on Sigmund Freud's personal collection of archaeological statues and artifacts. Filmed at the Freud Museum in London, it portrays the annual nocturnal cleaning of the psychoanalyst's collection, suggesting an analogy between the careful, voyeuristic, almost ritualistic removal of layers of dust from the objects and the intimate excavations and disclosures of analysis, both processes normally hidden from view. Tuesday 8 November 7.15 - 8.50pm CET Eye Filmmuseum IJpromenade 1 1031KT Amsterdam Further information can be found at the link in the bio.
