Several non-LDS friends have asked what an endowment is, usually followed by a why and later congrats (I got great friends). I try to avoid using church speak because after hearing a phrase like 50-11 times, it sounds more like indoctrination than a personal testimony. So first personal.... If God invited you to an exclusive members-only house party at his crib with the sickest swag bags... Would you go? The thing is, God has invited everyone to His house. And like most members-only clubs, there are specific requirements. Well, that’s what receiving the endowment is to me. It’s accepting an invitation to the house of the Lord and leaving with a swag bag full of blessings. The icing on the cake is it's an open invitation to come back again and again as long as I am worthy and keep my all-access pass, aka Temple Recommend. Finally, the Holy Ghost is always there at your service to testify, comfort, and teach. I don’t know about y'all, but that sounds like the best invitation EVER!!!! Now the more church-approved answer....Insert church speak... Going through the temple to receive one's endowment is sacred, not secret. Most of the information can be found on the church's website, Wikipedia, other LDS sites, and in LDS books about the temple or endowment. Churchofjesuschrist.org states: Temple ordinances, including the endowment, lead to the greatest blessings offered through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The word endowment means “a gift.” Some of the gifts you receive through the temple endowment include: 1. Greater knowledge of the Lord’s purposes and teachings. 2. Power to do all that God wants us to do. 3. Divine guidance and protection as we serve the Lord, our families, and others. 4. Increased hope, comfort, and peace. 5. Promised blessings now and forever. Swipe to read the entire caption..... #lds #endowment #covenant
