‘Movning Mountains’ is about materials - how they are in constant flux and how our understanding of them often is contingent on the time at which we meet them. We are introduced to them at different stages of their life - in finished forms, their raw state, as leftovers or as something remade. This work examines the varied when’s of bread, iron and wood, trying to understand the nature and desires of the materials that make-up Sweden.
Lab La Bla intercepts the lifecycles of native materials at surprising intervals to trial new material combinations. The materials of Moving Mountains are pine resin, gluten,
copper mining waste, factory floor dust, pine, spruce, drilling cores and iron ore dust. Marbling information about Sweden into one cohesive palette, the colors of the project are a blend of what lies out of sight, swept away and forgotten.
