My first Los Angeles roomie/southern brother from another mother Trent wanted help with another costume. This time for a drag party! He was inspired by the Cristian Dior Memphis Milano runway (the latter is an Italian design group that made post modern furniture in the 80’s). He told me big shapes, no flowy fabrics, and got me sketching. He’s a big man, so I really wanted something to hide his muscles and accentuate his tiny waist without having to make him wear a corset. Once we had something he liked, he bought heels, a bodysuit and a wig, and I got to sewing. I neglected to take any pics that showed off the checkered aspects, but you can kind of see it in the in progress pics. Anyway, he let me go crazy, and I feel like the finished product has the same vibe as Trent in his food halloween costumes: fun and out there but still adorable, colorful and silly, but bold and like no one else. Ever. Thank you for being an original and having me do this for you, Trent.
