As the nation mourned and paid their respects to the Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II during the Lying-in-State at Westminster Hall, a unique problem arose and some quick-thinking Scouts jumped into action. Thousands of people had queued all day and through the night, many with full picnics to ensure they had plenty to eat during the wait but once at the front of the queue, the food had to be discarded. This is where the Scouts reached out to us. Instead of it all being thrown away, all non-perishable and unopened packages were collected and will be given out to the thousands of groups we work with. Our CEO, Charlotte Hill, personally assisting in the operation to rescue as much food as possible to help Londoners in need. “We are honoured to be here to play a small part in this hugely poignant event and to know that an extra layer of good is being done here today. This food is a hugely unique donation and will help hundreds of people who are struggling to afford to eat. We support thousands of organisations helping a huge range of people and every day more are getting in contact asking us to give them food.
