Bedroom from the Sagredo Palace in Venice, c. 1718 with a hoarde of twenty-nine stucco sculpted angels bearing military insignia flying off the perimeter, tracing the canopy and surrounding a painting by Gaspare Diziani. They say Sagredo used this as his “official state bedroom,” not for sleeping in but to lounge in late morning, receiving visits from state officials, clergy and his various ~artist friends~ while the cherubim swarmed overhead. One of the first period rooms acquired by the met and another instance of Italians pretty much doing it the best lol
