August 14, 2012... I fell madly in love with her the moment I met her. My dog Baby had just recently passed and @djpaulv sent a link saying, “I know it’s probably too soon, but...” Her original name was Luna and this very sad Mexican man wasn’t allowed to have a dog where he lived so he was reluctantly giving her up. Despite our language barrier, I think he could clearly see I would love and take care of her. I changed her name to Miss Toni Home Perm (Google it) because she had this really cute wavy hair when she was very young. I had a special party just to introduce her to all my friends and, upon meeting her, fellow hopeless/shameless Gay dog-lover @alecmapa took her into his arms and said, “Toni Home Permanent... Toni, permanent home!” What an angel. I’m still numb. Holding her as she left this plane was horrible, but strangely not as bad as I had imagined. When you truly love someone you put their pain-free peace ahead of yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a selfish bitch who wanted this amazing creature in my life - my bed - my heart - FOREVER. But clearly, that’s not the way it works. Which sucks. This atheist prays that I’m wrong and we are reunited one day. No heaven, no hell, just a big beautiful meadow where we are finally reunited with “God’s” most impressive, loving & loyal creations. Thank you @twalck for sharing this simultaneously terrible/important day with me. I literally couldn’t have done it without you. (He also took these pics and dog sits my babies when I’m out of town) Rest Miss Toni...
