Which do you prefer? The first example or the second? I personally like accenting the skip beat just before beats 2 and 4. I think it gives a little more weight to the back beat. But some people I play with prefer to hear the back beat stand alone and be more pronounced. I demonstrate both in this clip. Which do you like?
