Reposted from @thelegendsofmusic ZZ Top playing “Tube Snake Boogie” Live at the Rockplast in 1980About “Tube Snake Boogie” by ZZ Top:What is a Tube Snake? Billy Gibbons answered that question in a 1985 interview with Spin magazine saying: "Originally, it was a surfboard. A friend of mine, for obvious reasons, liked the sound of the name. I guess it's the first cousin to a tube steak”. The lyrics seem to imply sexual innuendo or double entendre, which was confirmed in the liner notes to the band's 1992 Greatest Hits album. The explanation given then was that "'tube snake' is gnarly lingo for a surfboard, or 'boogie board.' Either way, it's good clean fun." However, this claim of surfing belies the lyrical content clearly indicating that the 'boogieing' is done at night.iiii]; )'
