I’m not great at small talk, so here goes ... I grew up listening and playing in rock bands - then I heard The Beastie Boys and Run DMC and my love for rap took over. Over the past twenty years, rappers have felt like the new rock stars to me. The music’s more progressive than rock, the style, attitude, lyrics, artistry all trump a lot of lazy rock bands with bad hair and weird jeans. It’s been on my mind that rock music needs to change, I’ve been asking myself the question - who’s going to take a risk? Who’s brave enough to change the rules? Who’s humble enough to be influenced by what’s going on around them? Then I met Serge. I’d been a fan of @kasabianofficial for years so was interested in what he wanted to discuss. He came in and explained his vision to me - to make an iconic, unapologetic album fusing influences from Iggy Pop through to Travis Scott. And he would be fronting the band. This would be Kasabian 2.0. A new chapter. I was 100% sold. A year later and here it is - ‘The Alchemist’s Euphoria’ - I’m so proud of Serge, the band and what we’ve achieved. We’ve created, trained, laughed, cried, seen our beloved Leicester city win / lose - performed together and it shows.
