Opening on 22 September, @spaziomaiocchi presents “Oval Parody,” a solo exhibition by American artist, designer, and founder of cult Los Angeles brand @FUCT, Erik Brunetti (b. 1967). Curated by KALEIDOSCOPE and supported by @slamjam, the exhibition features a new body of work inspired by FUCT’s now defunct parody of the Ford logo—the iconic graphics that cemented Brunetti’s authority as the original subverter of what is now called streetwear. Having played a key early role in establishing reappropriation as a fundamental gesture within streetwear’s lexicon, “Oval Parody” is reprised in a series of twelve acrylic paintings, furthering Brunetti’s thought-provoking feedback loop of reference, interpretation, and creation.
