Many moons ago, I got a job at Purdue University. I had never been to the Midwest and had no idea what to expect. Luckily my amazing linesister was there working on her PhD but other than her, I knew not a soul there. But God... I quickly met an undergrad student who was basically a one woman welcoming committee for the Black Student Union, @kendrabrackenferguson . If you know K now, she was that same effervescent personality back then and her family is now my family-Don my other daddy for real!!! Seriously though, as fate would have it we now live in the same city! I get to witness she and P Ferg raise my #TGirl and we all still having all kinds of fun with @brandon_carter_j and Johnell and new friends like The Hills! A blessing indeed! I was also fortunate enough to meet some women that were not only pursuing big time doctoral degrees, they were fun AF! I got to be a part of Indiana’s first and most notable #HotGirl coalition with my Sista Smith, Josey, Lorna and Naressa. Some good times we have had Lord! And now we all are nurturing youngins lol! I am still so overwhelmed that my PU fam was with me for this big life step. I even got our HU baby to make an appearance so you know I’m feeling hype! In life, friends become family for real and I am so blessed my first family away from home was with me on the big day!!!!
