@lydia__bolton is the designer on a mission to make waste into luxury fashion ♻️ With landfills bursting with clothes across the globe, and increasing damage to communities and our environment, this week we are celebrating one small designer extending the lifeline of our clothes and fabrics. Lydia Bolton is repurposing second hand textiles and unwanted clothing from thrift stores, charity shops, online marketplaces, and flea markets to realise her designs. With a focus on finding solutions for mass fashion consumption, zero waste is at the heart of everything her brand creates from packaging to patch-working scraps together. "I realised that as a designer, I had the responsibility and ability to design and create clothing that wasn’t harmful on the planet,” explained Bolton to @ecoage. “When learning about the vast amount of textile waste, I could see how I could provide a small solution by reusing and remaking the second-hand textile, so I set up my brand centred around this!" Bolton's goal is to inspire others to adopt this way of designing and creating. "During the pandemic, I did SEWcial distancing kits which were easy, DIY sewing projects to do at home,” relates Bolton. “Now, I’m doing workshops to show people how to upcycle and remake their own clothing.” Learn more about Lydia's work and discover her designs via the link in bio. 📸 Photography by @zeibatchelor . . . #upcyclingfashion #upcyclingworkshop #slowfashiondesigner #movetozero #remaking #sustainablefashion #zerowastefashion #fashionsustainability #fashioninnovation #designinnovation #lydiabolton #ecoage
