This morning, we joined @MermaidCheMonique and @RisingTideEffect for a water safety seminar at @TheRockawayHotel. Mermaid Che Monique swam here all the way from Washington D.C. to share her nautical knowledge with K-5th grade students at the Waterside School. She and Kate from Rising Tide Effect let students know they should never swim in the ocean without a lifeguard present. Most importantly, they showed students how to spot and escape a rip current. How would you escape a rip current? According to Mermaid Che, you should swim parallel to the shore, always keep your nose above the water, and stay calm.
