Executed in 1970, Pablo Picasso’s ‘Le Peintre et son modèle (A Double-Sided Work)’ features a second drawing on the back of the work, with both sides depicting a painter holding their palette next to an easel. Previously belonging to legendary filmmaker John Hughes, who purchased the work in 1988 at the height of his success in Hollywood following hits like ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,’ and ‘Sixteen Candles,’ the drawing sold well above estimate in the Modern Day Auction at #SothebysNewYork in May.
