I have a modest-but-growing vinyl record collection. Here’s one of the more-recent acquisitions, Pearl Jam’s 1993 album, “vs.” (pronounced “versus”). It spent 5 weeks topping the Billboard 200’s record charts and until 1998, held the record for most copies sold in its first week. It produced 4 hit singles, including “Go”, “Animal”, “Dissident” (heard in this clip) and the No. 1 hit, “Daughter,” which held that spot for 8 weeks on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock charts. The songs “Glorofied G” and “Elderly Woman Behind The Counter in a Small Town” also charted. Vs. has achieved 7x Platinum status by the RIAA, and has sold over 8 million copies worldwide.
