Book Launch with Dave Broom! โœจ๐ŸŽ‰ An absolute honour to have the opportunity to attend the launch of the eminent Dave Broomโ€™s latest book launch - The World Atlas of Whisky ๐ŸŒ Now in its 3rd edition, in the decade since the last edition came out, the whisky world โ€˜has changed utterlyโ€™. And what started as an update eventually became a complete rewrite ๐Ÿคฏ As the whisky industry grows, as Dave puts it, there is now more focus on the provenance of whisky, at least in the newer and smaller distilleries that are taking a serious look into their context, and historical methods. There are also whiskies interpreted by people with different backgrounds such as brewers and wine makers. These approaches have created some truly interesting and tasty whiskies, and we got to try some of them together ๐Ÿ˜‹ And true to theme, the tasting took us through many parts of the world. From Japan we jumped to Denmark, then England, Scotland, Ireland, and all the way to New Zealand, finally the US ๐Ÿฅƒ Each with their own unique characteristics. An overwhelming favourite of the evening was a 5yo cask from Dornoch Distillery. For a 5 year old whisky to taste like 60s Longmorn is absolutely mind blowing and is a testament to the Thompson Bros dedication to historical method ๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธ Other stand out for us were White Peak Bourbon Barrel, Boann Madeira Single Pot Still, and Copperworks Single Malt ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ Thanks for the wonderful evening and weโ€™ve already started reading the book! ๐Ÿ˜„ #booklaunch #whiskyjourney #whiskybook #worldatlas #singlemaltwhisky #davebroom #whiskyexchange #whiskylates
