I photographed fishermen and the people involved in the fishing industry at this port situated in my hometown of Tsuruoka. The sunburnt and deeply wrinkled faces of the fishermen I met revealed to me the unforgiving nature of the sea and the way they live their lives around it. I captured these men's impressive appearance at this "fishing port" — a space connecting the primordial sea and my hometown.
