Over the weekend, there was yet another revelation regarding abuse in the underground music industry. The power dynamics within the music industry enable behaviours that lead to abuse, and too often victims believe their experiences will be minimised or not taken seriously. As a platform for underground music it is our duty to set a standard that actively combats the environments that breed this type of behaviour. We want to reiterate our safe(r) space policy and zero tolerance towards sexual harassment. We will continue to take steps to be proactive about this issue within our space. All our staff members are equipped with training from @goodnightoutcampaign to deal with any issues that jeopardise the safety of our community. We are aware that it may not be possible to guarantee a fully safe space. However, we are constantly updating and reassessing the best way to maintain the safety of our members. We want to ensure that everyone is heard by building an environment that is representative of our community and its values. Our DMs are always open.
