Produced by Chifa Studios, ‘The Mime’ follows Yayoi Hirano as she reflects on the lessons of life as a performer and one of the few female wooden mask makers in the world. We asked director Jon Chiang what inspired him to use works from Musicbed artists Ryan Taubert and Tony Anderson: “I knew I wanted the piece to feel dynamic and help underscore the emotion behind Yayoi’s words. I was searching for strings and piano and ‘Nocturne in Paris’ felt like it fit perfectly for the emotional high I wanted to end the film with—just enough without being over the top. I decided to bring in ‘Lux’ at the beginning to set the tone with a track that drew me in and would draw the audience into Yayoi’s story.
