I always get asked how I make sure I get myself to sit down and study for classes and exams. I don't always have the same motivation every single day. Some days are good days, some days are bad days. Some days I get a lot done. Sometimes I barely get anything done. Besides the fear of failure keeping me going, here are a few other things that I try and implement to help me stay on track.
1. Finding somebody that is on the same track as you and make a study schedule. This way you both can check in on each other and keep yourselves accountable by making sure you're both on track. @aziza.n.scrubs and I did this a lot last year and that's legit how we survived didactic year.
2. Get in the habit of writing your goals down. What goal do you want to reach by the end of the week? Is it finishing 200 practice questions? Is it finishing your study guide? Try and check those off.
3. Stay organized. The worst part of trying to set a good study routine is having things everywhere. Declutter your space and find a set up that works for you.
4. Reward yourself for checking things off your study list. I always reward myself with an episode of Grey's Anatomy or Gilmore Girls to unwind.
5. Adjust your mindset. Nobody likes studying (right? lol). If you wake up everyday dreading it, it's only going to make things worse. Wake up everyday telling yourself this is one step closer to your goal. BUT don't beat yourself up if there are some days that you wake up and you're just NOT feeling it. You're human. This happens to me more times than I can count.
