Our past guest speaker Aundre Larrow (@aundre) is back with more gems! If you attended or replayed our free Adobe Lightroom training sessions with Aundre, you know he’s a wealth of information. Here’s his latest advice for anyone in the industry: 1️⃣ Negotiating 101 for artists, money isn’t the only thing you’re negotiating for. 2️⃣ Know the USAGE of the work, because if it’s going on social organically versus if paid ads are behind it can let you know the value the project has with the company. If it costs them to promote it, it means your work will likely bring them profits 2x the cost of the project at least. 3️⃣ Know the TURNAROUND TIME so you aren’t breaking your back for something not due yet. Also make sure to charge for a rush fee for last second jobs, if possible. 4️⃣ OWNERSHIP determines if a company can license your work to other companies or for other things than what you discussed. 5️⃣ And deliverables are the physical manifestation of your work. Protect it. All of these can help you get to a better number in negotiation because knowing what the client needs can let you know the size, scope and reach of the project.
