Today is the anniversary of when I initiated into Sango! Eku Odun Sango 🔥 My friend @kwaku.bekoe always talks about the importance of being strong enough to carry the divinities we get initiated into. I remember my Sango initiation being the most physically & mentally straining experience for me. Being able to be strong enough to carry Sango has been a repeating theme with my relationship to this orisa. Anyone who knows me very well recognizes distinct differences between who I was before and after my rebirth into Sangodosu. I was a very shy and introspective person, I was too nice to my detriment and struggled with saying no. I also denied myself from experiencing my anger, a defining quality of Sango. This is why I give homage to this orisa who took me under their wing and showed me how to be King. Homage to the orisa who showed me the importance of emotional regulation and boundaries.
