Clutched in models’ hands as they stomped through the muddy catwalk of the brand’s recent Fall 2023 fashion show, the bags were easy to miss, but their existence was confirmed by a dedicated post on @demnagram, a support account turned official news source for all things Balenciaga (founder Saba Bakhia was hired by the brand this year). Their rumored retail price is $1800, a steep hike from the real deal’s $3.99 price point, but hey, it’s leather! The inspiration? Perhaps creative director Demna Gvasalia himself, who had something of a mini viral fashion moment after being spotted carrying an actual bag of Lay’s at the Antwerp Royal Acadamy of Fine Arts graduate show back in June. The Balenciaga version appears to be an official collaboration with Lay’s, having been posted on the chip brand’s social media accounts.
