I was 12 years old when I had my first moment in the woods. My dear friend Jon @jrebell and his dad took me to the then Martin Beck Theatre to see the new Sondheim/Lapine musical we were both dying to see. The great Phylicia Rashad was my first Witch. I spent the next year wearing out the cast album and engraving every word on my heart. At my bar mitzvah (theme: Jordan’s Broadway, of course!) where all the tables were named for my favorite shows, mine was Table Into The Woods. When it was announced that Bernadette Peters would be returning for a week to film the show for PBS, I had to go again and took Jon. As the years went by, Into The Woods has held my hand through so many moments of joy and pain and confusion and revelation. I found there was a line from this show that spoke to every moment in life. But even so, I never imagined I might be able to be part of one of its chapters. To have been has been the wish granted I never knew I had. And to walk through these woods with such an extraordinary group of giant hearts is the magic I am most grateful for. Every person on stage, backstage, in the orchestra, front of house, the many offices who brought their passion and generosity every day and night. Today, we end the 8 weeks that grew beanstalk-style into 6 months on Broadway, and next month we will travel the path across the country. From opening night (slide 2) to tonight’s Broadway closing (slide 4), thank you to everyone who made and loved this production. You make it worth the journeying. #Broadway
