From A to Z, Utah's Mighty 5 national parks are distinct and special in their own way. This week, in celebration of National Public Lands Day (and free national park entry) on Sept. 24th, we're introducing you to each one of them with some fun facts along the way.
First up is A, or Arches National Park. Arches is home to the greatest concentration of rock arches on the planet—around 2,000 of them! These formations are the result of 300 million year-old salt and sedimentary deposits from an ancient inland sea being shaped and reshaped by folding and weathering overtime.
Note: visitors to Arches National Park will still need to make a reservation for entry Saturday the 24th at recreation.gov.
