It’s coming up to 2 years ago since Ashton was on the pathway for his ASD diagnoses. I am forever grateful for how quickly Ashton was diagnosed (5 months from the first referral), it’s quite unusual and unheard of. The last two years have been hell of a journey of in honest so many highs and lows, grieving for the life I had imagined and learning to accept and appreciate the life we will have. Learning to navigate everything from services to people’s opinions. I spend a huge chunk of my time advocating for Ashton. For his needs and what I feel would serve him the best. Watching him grow and develop in his own pace. Its been the most rewarding, exhausting, tearful full of love journey Iv ever I countered.
