This satin chromium tray was designed in the 1930s by Norman Bel Geddes — one of America’s most visionary industrial designers, celebrated for shaping the language of modernism and the Art Deco movement. Known for his streamlined forms and theatrical imagination, Bel Geddes brought beauty and innovation into everyday life, from world’s fair pavilions to domestic objects such as this. Chromium, a material that symbolized progress and modern elegance at the time, is here paired with sculptural Deco handles and refined linear etching. What was once a new expression of modern living is today a rare artifact of American design history. We are honored to present this piece as part of Borne’s Edit, revealed tomorrow at our in-person showcase.
