The film is based on Singh’s true life story facing prejudice and finding acceptance when he dressed up as "Sikh Captain America.” He emphasized the importance of how there needs to be more representation of Sikh characters in films and shows in this country. “American Sikh” premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in June 2023, and it was the first time that a film featured a Sikh character.
