Kind of late to make this post... but here it goes.
Three years ago, I came toEKU with pb’s of 3:51 and 1:53. Back then, I didn’t really understand how the NCAA system worked. I was just a curious, innocent kid ready to explore, to grow, to experience something new. And that’s what I did. In that time, I’ve met incredible people, made lifelong friendships, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science and a Master’s in Exercise and Sport Science. This past year, I made it to Regionals, an achievement that I could just have dreamt of and a moment that reminded me how far I’ve come. While it didn’t go quite how I’d hoped and I know I still have more to give, it was something the Aniol from a few years ago could have only dreamed of. None of this would’ve been possible without the people who believed in me, especially in the moments I struggled to believe in myself. @coach_miaforster , thank you for your constant support and always cheering for me. @coachpatisu , thank you for reminding me of my worth and pushing me to see the potential I sometimes couldn’t see. To my teammates and friends, thank you. You made this journey unforgettable and turned every opportunity into something truly meaningful.
3 years later, I leave EKU with new PBs of 3:40 and 1:48. But more importantly, I leave with a full heart, a sack full of experiences, friendships that feel like family and possibly picked up a small ice cream addiction along the way. To everyone who’s been a part of this chapter: thank you. It meant the world to me.
Now, it’s time for me to begin a new chapter, one last ride in the NCAA. I’m more than excited to continue my athletic and academic journey at Florida State University, in the hands of @c_halz .
