i can’t stop talking about the film Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (@leograndefilm). the story touches on several important conversations, from gendered power structures to female pleasure to body shame –– all told via the plotline of a retired school teacher, Nancy Stokes (Emma Thompson) hiring a (gorgeous) sex worker, Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack). i wish there were more films like this in mainstream media because it’s clear that it could have a profound impact on how we talk about body acceptance and female desire. In fact, I feel like the film is the epitome of the things we don’t talk about. it’s crazy that it's still "radical" to see a woman, over the age of 25, without airbrushing, visibly loving herself on screen. we discussed all of this and more “life changing” media in our newsletter, plus rolled out the 7th Diem Doc: The Diem TV Guide 📺 link to newsletter & Doc in my bio!
