Thank you all for your enthusiastic responses to my previous post! Over 500 comments - I can’t believe it! I’m SUPER excited to announce that Simon & Schuster will be publishing The Mysteries of Thorn Manor, a Sorcery of Thorns follow-up novella, on January 17, 2023. This story takes place about two months after Sorcery’s epilogue and is a lighthearted, romantic comfort-read mystery that reveals previously untold secrets about the world and characters. It’s already available for preorder, and you can find links on the webpage in my bio, along with a longer description of the story if you’re curious to read more. I’m also deeply, wildly, madly thrilled to share that the amazing @charliebowater will once again be illustrating the cover! Thank you, Charlie! I can’t wait to reveal more details about this gorgeous edition in future updates. I’m not sure yet how many pages Mysteries will be since I just turned in edits on Friday, but it’s ten chapters and about 34k words, which is pretty long for a novella (for comparison, How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black is about 21k). How did this novella come about? The truth is that I was in a dark place after Covid isolation and lost a lot of confidence in my writing. I decided to try this as a way to help rediscover my love of writing, and hopefully bring some comfort and happiness to my readers, too, since many of you have asked for some extra content like this. I never imagined that it would be published as more than a digital ebook, so I was blown away when Simon & Schuster got back to me with the news that they wanted to release it as a hardcover! A question some of you might have is whether the novella will be translated into any other languages. I don’t know yet, but I sincerely hope so! I don’t have any personal control over translations (it’s the publishers’ decision, not mine) so I’m keeping all of my fingers crossed that it will be able to reach my brilliant readers across the world.
