Last night, the film ‘Koudelka: Shooting Holy Land’ by @gilad__baram premiered in Russian on @currenttime.tv, a Russian-language television channel with headquarters in Prague, with an introduction by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Vitaly Mansky.
Forty years after capturing his iconic images of the Soviet invasion of Prague in 1968, Czech photographer Josef Koudelka traveled to Israel and Palestine to participate in an art project which asked participants to create new work in response to their individual experiences. The Wall built by Israel in the West Bank sparked his interest when he began to draw parallels with his experience of living behind the Iron Curtain in Czechoslovakia.
Shot over five years by his Israeli assistant, Gilad Baram, ‘Koudelka: Shooting Holy Land’ follows Josef Koudelka on his journey through Israel and Palestine, offering an intimate look at the Magnum photographer’s solitary creative process.
@koudelkafilm is available to watch, dubbed in Russian, at the link in bio, accompanied by an interview with the director.
